Executive Coaching for Leaders Under Pressure

Lead with calm and confidence

Overcome stress and become the leader you want to be with 1-1 coaching

You’ve been in your leadership role for over a year now. You hoped the pressure would ease off over time, but, if anything, it’s got worse.

Maybe you’re in one of these situations

New challenges

You’re facing a new leadership challenge, or leading major organisational change.

Overwhelm

You’ve been in your role for over a year and trying to keep on top of everything is taking its toll.

Disillusion

You’re feeling discouraged because you’re not having the impact you want and wondering if this role is for you.

It can feel like being a leader never gets any easier

You’re being asked to do more with less.

You’re taking on new responsibilities – maybe leading a restructure or change programme. You’re feeling the weight of expectation when you’re already stretched to the limits. It’s not surprising you feel stressed about being up to the job.

You’re working all hours.

You thought pressure would ease over time, but the demands just keep coming. You’re working all hours trying to keep on top of everything, and you’re worried about letting people down. You don’t know how much longer you can take the stress.

You’re not having the impact you wanted.

You thought that being a leader meant making a difference, but you feel stuck in the weeds and out of control. Your boss keeps piling on the work – you feel like you’ve no time to breathe, let alone step back and think about the bigger picture.

“I’m so much happier, more self-aware and more confident after working with Alison – and more comfortable in my own skin. I’m getting better results at work, my team is performing and I’m more present with my family.”

Simon Redfern, ESG Director, Global property

“When I started working with Alison, I was feeling burnt out, full of self-doubt, lacking career inspiration and struggling to juggle a young family with work. Her holistic approach in supporting me helped me build the confidence to put myself first, play to my strengths and believe in myself. I came away from her sessions ready to take on exciting new challenges.”

Rebecca Wingeatt, Finance Leader, Big Four

Your coaching journey

Set your vision & goals

Before our first session, I’ll invite you to complete a comprehensive questionnaire and confidence assessment to help you get clear on where you are and where you want to be. When we meet up, we’ll discuss your insights, firm up your vision and goals, and start work.

Coaching

We’ll meet for one hour coaching sessions every 2 – 4 weeks. Before each call, I’ll send you questions to help you prepare. We’ll work on one or more specific challenges you’re facing and you’ll take away insights and actions.

Review & consolidation

Towards the end of your coaching programme, I’ll share some questions to help you reflect on your entire coaching journey. You’ll capture your progress and identify any remaining challenges you’d like us to work on.

Staying on track

It’s totally normal to find the odd new habit slipping after your coaching programme. We’ll check in 3 months after your programme for a 30 minute coaching call and zone in on any areas of challenge.

Coaching isn’t leadership training

Coaching isn’t about giving you skills, advice or tips. It’s about helping you change the way you see yourself and the world for the better so that you can become the leader you want to be.

It involves getting underneath the surface, understanding how your thoughts, feelings and habits are getting in the way of what you want, and empowering you to make new choices that help you achieve your goals.

You’re not hardwired – you can change, but it’s not easy to turn around decades of conditioning.

You can get benefit from a one-off coaching session. However, changing patterns of thought, feeling and behaviour for the better takes awareness, courage and practice. Not to mention working through the myriad of situations you will encounter during our coaching together.

As your coach, I will hold you accountable for the actions you commit to and work with you to overcome obstacles to making changes. That’s why I work with clients for at least 6 months so that they can embed and embody change.

“I’m more aware, more capable, and more confident as a leader thanks to my time with Alison. I’m a better leader. I think differently. I’ve got tools and techniques to help me be more effective and get the most from my teams. It’s been a thoroughly enjoyable and, importantly, useful process.”

Tim Lucas, Managing Director, Media

I coach leaders at some great organisations

“Alison is a thought-provoking and persistent coach. She’s helped me achieve VP level in a competitive, demanding, male-dominated tech company. I am braver, more patient and able to create multiple pathways to achieve what the business has needed. I have appreciated her humour and candour.”

Lisa Fretwell, Vice President, Global technology

What it’s like to work with me

Master your mind

I want you to be the master of your mind, not a slave to it. I’ll help you raise awareness of unhelpful ways of thinking and introduce you to techniques to get the Voice in your Head working for you, not against you.

Manage your state

When you feel stressed or frustrated, it’s hard to be the leader you aspire to be. I’ll help you learn to recognise negative emotional states and share techniques to help you feel calmer, think more clearly and act with confidence.

Communicate with courage

Speaking up for what’s important to you, whether expressing your opinion, giving feedback or asking for a pay rise, can feel challenging. We’ll identify situations where you may be finding it hard to say what you want and I’ll help you with the clarity, conviction and courage to find your voice.

Hi, I’m Alison and I’m here to help you become the calm, confident leader you want to be.

I help leaders banish self-doubt and restore their confidence and self-belief with mind-body strategies grounded in the latest neuroscience. After coaching hundreds of leaders over the last 20 years, I know how to help you stop self-doubt sabotaging your success.

Over time, I’ve realised the main barrier to high-achievers like you realising your aspirations isn’t talent or skill – it’s the F-Word : Fear. A completely normal response to the pressure of leading yourself and others in challenging environments.

I coach leaders because I love helping them overcome the fear and self-doubt that gets in the way of them unleashing their glorious selves in their life and work. Worry less, achieve more.

“Alison has empowered me to lead with confidence through a whole new set of tools and techniques drawing on the latest research. I’m much clearer on what’s important and what isn’t. It’s been really rewarding and a pleasure to work with her.”

David Harney, Sales Leader, Global technology

FAQs

How much you get out of your coaching experience will depend on how much you put in.

Here are some tips from my experience coaching leaders like you :

  • Give yourself permission. Committing to coaching is a big commitment to yourself. Give yourself permission to make time for developing yourself as an individual and a leader.
  • Do the work. I’ll send you “homework” at the beginning of our work together and before each of our sessions. Some of the questions I ask you to reflect on may feel hard, but will help you build your awareness, accelerate your learning and zone in on what you want me to help you with.
  • Take action. You’ll be committing to actions and practices in our sessions. Action is the rocket fuel for awareness and change. Even if it doesn’t go to plan, you will learn from your experience and I can help you overcome any challenges you face.
  • Reflect. Becoming more aware of what you’re thinking and feeling, what you’re learning, and what you want is an important part of the coaching journey.
  • Use me. I invite you to keep in touch on WhatsApp inbetween our coaching sessions. You are welcome to update me on what’s been going on or ask me for input on a situation you’re dealing with.

Coaching carries no guaranteed outcome because you’re the only one who can take action in service of your goals. Saying that, I’ll be walking alongside you throughout your coaching journey and I’ll only be an email or WhatsApp message away.

The coaching agenda is led by you. At the beginning of our journey, we’ll get clear on your goals for our coaching together.

Before each session, I’ll invite you to think about a specific challenge or opportunity in relation to your goals that you’d like me to help you explore. When it’s appropriate, I may suggest areas for discussion that I think will help you achieve your coaching objectives.

Each session, you’ll take away insights, learnings and actions that will have a broader impact than the specific issue we’ve discussed.

We’ll schedule our coaching sessions at mutually convenient times, usually 2 – 4 weeks apart. Often, the first few sessions will be closer together as we get into the work. But it’s flexible to your wants and needs, and our respective availability.

I usually recommend we get our diaries out at the end of each session to plan the next one, so no need to plan too far ahead unless you wish to do so.

I generally have availability daytime Tuesday – Thursday. If you have limited availability or want a particular slot, I’m happy to schedule multiple sessions in advance.

You can reschedule sessions with at least 48 hours’ notice.

I understand that it can sound a lot at first. However, a lot of the actions and practices you take away from our sessions will be things you’ll do in the course of your everyday life and work – you won’t usually need to schedule extra time to do them.

To be honest, most clients find that coaching helps them be more focussed, more effective and often work less.

Payment is due upfront before our first session. If you’re funding the coaching yourself, I understand it can help to spread the cost so I offer the option to pay in three monthly instalments with a 10% surcharge.

All coaching sessions take place on video call, usually Zoom or Teams, which means I can coach you wherever you are in the world. I currently have clients in the US, Europe and Asia. Coaching is equally effective by phone if you prefer that.

“Alison helped me transform my business aspirations into reality. What surprised me was how quickly her coaching yielded results – and dramatically improved my leadership skills. She was good-humoured, yet rigorous and structured, fearless in challenging me, while kind and thoughtful with it.”

Jon Jacob, Digital Content Strategist and Producer
