What is Hogan?

The international authority in personality assessment and consulting, Hogan Assessments has more than three decades of experience dramatically reducing turnover and increasing productivity by helping businesses hire the right people, develop key talent, and evaluate leadership potential.

Grounded in more than a century of science and backed by the largest and most complete pool of research in the industry, the Hogan assessments predict job performance by assessing normal personality, derailment characteristics, core values, and cognitive reasoning ability.

What is HoganLead?

Hogan offers a variety of assessments to suit different situations. Reports are generated from the same four assessments, but all with different outcomes that help inform different situations.

We use the HoganLead suite of reports. HoganLead reports are specifically designed to provide leaders with insights arising from each Hogan Assessment that can directly impact their leadership effectiveness.

These are the “gold standard” reports and often used for executive and senior management talent development.

HoganLead : The assessments

  • Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI)
    The Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI) describes normal, or bright-side personality – qualities that describe how we relate to others when we are at our best. Whether your goal is to find the right hire or develop stronger leaders, assessing normal personality gives you valuable insight into how people work, how they lead, and how successful they will be.
  • Hogan Development Survey (HDS)
    The Hogan Development Survey (HDS) describes the dark side of personality – qualities that emerge in times of increased strain and can disrupt relationships, damage reputations, and derail peoples’ chances of success. By assessing dark-side personality, you can recognize and mitigate performance risks before they become a problem.
  • Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory (MVPI)
    The Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory (MVPI) describes personality from the inside – the core goals, values, drivers, and interests that determine what we desire and strive to attain. By assessing values, you can understand what motivates candidates to succeed, and in what type of position, job, and environment they will be the most productive.

HoganLead : The reports

HoganLead, also known as the Hogan Leadersip Forecast series, includes four development-focused reports.

Based on Hogan’s trademark assessments, the Hogan Personality Inventory, Hogan Development Survey, and Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory, each report offers information regarding the characteristics, competencies, and values that underlie how a leader approaches work, leadership, and interaction with others in the workplace.

  • Potential Report
    The Potential Report outlines day-to-day leadership style, describes behaviors typically associated with that style, leadership competencies, and comprehensive development recommendations.
  • Challenge Report
    The Challenge Report describes how leaders are likely to interpret the world and treat subordinates while under stress and pressure. The Challenge Report predicts career-derailing behaviors that interfere with the ability to build a cohesive and high-performing team.
  • Values Report
    The Values Report explores the core values and goals that ultimately drive a leaders behavior, aspirations, and expectations about life. What people value determines how they will lead; this determines the kind of environment a leader will create and the sort of organizational culture the person will do the best work.
  • Summary Report
    The Summary Report is an overview of a candidate’s strengths, challenges, and values. The report integrates results across the HPI, HDS, and MVPI to provide a snapshot of interpersonal performance and values in relation to future career aspirations.

How it works

Alison Reid is a certified practitioner of HoganAssessments and authorised reseller of Hogan products via APS, authorised distributor for Hogan.

Engaging with HoganLead involves completing 3 online inventories which take on average 15 – 20 minutes each to complete. A link will be sent direct to the coachee’s inbox for them to complete these.

HoganLead can be conducted as a stand-alone exercise or as part of Alison’s coaching programmes.
