Don’t rely on Christmas
How are you? If you’re like many of the leaders I work with, you may well feel you’re limping towards the finish line that is Christmas, feeling the effect of the short, cold days and desperate for a rest.
You don’t feel you can stop because you’ve got loads on your plate, from pressing deadlines at work to prepping for Christmas. But you’re convincing yourself that, if you keep going, you’ll be able to recover over the festive period.
Yet the reality can be that Christmas and New Year is a whirlwind of friends, family and hangovers and you find yourself back at work in January wondering what hit you!
Christmas won’t fix it
A leadership expert in my network, Digby Scott, posts an article every year called “Christmas won’t fix it”. It’s about our tendency to think it’s ok to push so hard we’re running on fumes, believing a break will sort it out.
However, just like we know our car won’t run without filling it up and getting it serviced, dealing with pressure by just pushing on isn’t good for us or our leadership.
Pace yourself and feel calmer
Personally, I’m definitely feeling the need to pace myself following an intense project rewriting & rebuilding my website on top of my usual client work. (It’s now live – do take a look.)
So, in this mailing, I’m going to share resources from my archive to help you pace yourself in the approach to Christmas, and become the calm, confident leader you want to become in 2026.
